2010 | four costumes

A friend of mine approached me about doing four costumes for a dance performance he was choreographing. Other than my work with plush, mending, and minimal garment fabrication, I was wildly outside my area of expertise. Nonetheless, I was honored and decided to take on the challenge.

While my friend didn't request anything more than simple costumes, it seems I just had to push myself to something more complicated. My objectives were to not only fit the theme of the dance piece, but make durable, comfortable and original art-clothes.

I measured the dancers, designed the patterns, upcycled the material from thrift store sheets and garments, and made them all by myself. The process was engaging, intense, and a blast! I would do it again in a heartbeat!
